I am thinking about purchasing one to run around town on and maybe do some long trips. I was just wondering what anyone's thoughts are on it.

  1. They are a blast. Email me and I will tell you when we are getting some more. We are in west Texas

  2. Have briefly ridden the 250cc version of the same and have a friend who owns the 400cc.

It's not a bad piece of kit and rides just like normal bike/scooter. The trick front end is quite fun and does seem to be very planted. Not having just the two wheels in line with each other does make dealing with road imperfections that bit easier, though I'm not personally entirely convinced by Piaggio's sales patter with regard to the supposed safety benefits that two front wheels conveys. A friend of mine nearly had a bad shunt on his Gilera Fuoco trike because the driver of the car he was overtaking accelerated so that he could get a better look at the two front wheels as he was alongside.

On the downside, the MP3 is heavy for a 400cc scooter and you won't be able to get your feet forward like you can on a Suzuki Burgman or Yamaha Majesty. The storage is a bit limited and not all Piaggio parts last as long as they should.

I might have been interested in purchasing an MP3 400 a couple of years ago when the concept first reached the UK, but I wouldn't have been happy with it. However, my friend is very pleased with his. Whether it suits you is something that only a test ride will be able to answer.

  3. they are all sold out
