  1. Going to an out of state (expensive) school is considered a luxury and you won't get more money from federal financial aid because you choose to do so.  Yes, it would be the same as if you applied in your hometown.  Sometimes individuals schools give you scholarships and grants, but federal aid will all be the same.

I doubt it will cover all of it, so No you won't have any money left over.  What you will have "left over" is a big bill you have to pay even AFTER financial aid (grants, loans) pays.

  2. I am not going out of state. but I do know that they give you less for choosing a school out of the state you filed in

it sucks but such is life

  3. Just straight grants won't... Depending on how much tuition and fees are at the school you are going to and after the cost of books and such.. you will probably end up having to get a loan... I went to school out-of-state as well and had to deal with this.

  4. Lots of bad information here.

It totally depends on the college. If it's a public college you're not likely to get any aid past the Federal Pell Grant if ou qualify, a Stafford loan and work study. That's a drop in the bucket for out of state tuition at a public college or a private college's tuition for all.

Private colleges, however, ma fill in the gaps with grants and more loans depending on their policy and how desirable of a candidate you are. Call the financial aid office at the schools you're interested in and discus your particular situation.

The bottom line is almost nothing will be as cheap as your in state schools in the majority of cases.
