I just finished reading this book and I LOVED it. I couldn't put it down. I know there is a movie also, and i'm curious if it's worth seeing? I thoroughly enjoyed the book so I was wondering how much like the book it is? Any opinions on the book/movie would be greatly appreciated. :) thanks!

  1. The book is (as usual) much better than the movie.  I loved the book, too, since it really took the reader to a whole different place and time.  The details of the geisha life were absolutely captivating.  The movie doesn't show all those details, and the characters are nowhere near as real.  Since the movie is out on DVD, you could rent it cheaply just to see if you want.  I certainly wouldn't recommend buying the movie, though.  It just doesn't have the depth and weight of the book.

  2. Ive seen the movie (which I thought was good) and I just purchased the book....I'm sure the book is going to be better though!!!

  3. i loved the book too, i watched twenty minutes of the film and switched it off, i didn't feel i could get into it like the book. i often find the book better than the film.

i found the book absolutely riveting and could not put it down, the characters were so captivating.

  4. I have read and seen both the book and the movie. I loved the book. The movie was very good. It does deviate a little from the book, but still very enjoyable. I recommend seeing it.

  5. The book is really good, and so is the movie, but it's a little different, but not by much.  They had to cut down the story to shorten it a little, but the major themes are there.
