I'm reading "Silence of the Lambs" right now, and it's a great book, even though I was hoping to hear a little bit more about Lector.

So, out of the four following novels that Thomas Harris has written, which do you think is the best one and why? Which one(s) is similar (in plot, writing style, characters, etc.) to "The Silence of the Lambs"?

-Black Sunday

-Red Dragon

-Hannibal

-Hannibal Rising

thanks!

  1. I love all of these books to death.

Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal are my absolute favorites.

I also really liked Red Dragon, the movie for that one is good also.

Hannibal the book's ending is so much more better than the movie's even though I Love Anthony Hopkins as Lecter. This book has much more of Dr. Lecter in it than Silence.

I think they are all very similar in writing style, but they are each very much their own story.

My least favorite was Hannibal Rising. I love anything about Hannbial Lecter, and I was excited to learn more about his childhood....but it just wasn't my favorite. While this book obviously has the most about him, it is about YOUNG Lecter though. Not about the Hannibal that we all know.

  2. red dragon is my absolute favorite.  i have them all- i'm a big fan- the writing style is very close-draws you in with all the descriptive details

  3. The books are all pretty cool.  If you dig Dr. Lecter, they're worth a read.

Hannibal is actually better as a book.

    Hannibal Rising.....eh.

    Red Dragon rules.
