  1. If you want a cheap holiday, cut out the middle man.  Holiday companies are run to make a profit.  No matter how cheap they seem, you could do better by buying where they buy.

First find a cheap flight.  It's usually best to go to a budget airline as soon as they've been allocated airport slots.  They sell the first few seats at a loss, then fill up the plane at ever increasing prices.  Booking your own flight means you fly when you want to go and don't have to turn up at the airport at 5:00am.

The other type of cheap flight is when the charter airlines have some empty seats because the packagers haven't taken up their allocation.  These are sold through bucket shops and can be very cheap.  However, you never know what's going to be available so they're no good if you want to book your accommodation in advance.

Hotels, self-catering, campsites - they're all on the internet and usually in English (well sort of - the cheaper the establishment, the funnier the English).  Book direct and you save about 20%.  What's more they usually let you cancel without penalty up to 48 hours before you are due to arrive.  Hint: to find the accommodation without being swamped by holiday ads, do an advanced search.  Select the domain for the country you want to go to and exclude sites with the word "compare".

If you feel you need travel insurance, shop around.  Mind you, if you're travelling in the EU and have an EHIC and you also have home contents insurance, you'll probably find most contingencies are covered.

  2. Hey, i recently went to the island of Kos (fantastic holiday) for a week. My holiday included, flight, hotel, transfers and it was all inclusive! All for £320 per person. I booked it through www.teletextholidays.co.uk on there you will find very cheap deals. Totally reccommend it! :)
