  1. Try Prince Problend or Babolat Xcel.  I have the same problem and this guy, who was my former little league coach and knows a lot about tennis, told me to use those strings.  Get both 16 gauge.

  2. suggestions

buy a stringer and learn how to string.

buy a reel of string - you should buy a poly:  i use luxilon big banger for my mains and wilson enduro pro for my crosses and it takes me a solid week and a half to two weeks to break them and i'm a D1 college player with a big game.

a reel of luxilon is expensive, but if that combo lasts me it should last you close to a month i would think.

  3. I'd recommend prince problend with duraflex if you are a chronic string break. They last three months for me, and I break strings on a weekly basis. I currently hit with babolat Pro Hurricanes. Try  thicker gauges of strings too. 16's are more durable than 18's.

  4. i think the gamma gut xp 16 is a good durable string

  5. Yea there are plenty of choices you have.

Technically two weeks isnt too bad for the amount of hours you are playing.  Thats about average.

Right now I would assume you are using a regular synthetic gut type of string.

Now here is what you do:

You are currently breaking the vertical - up and down - strings (mains).  This is completely normal.  The wear and tear of the strings naturally cause the mains to break.  This being said you need to replace the mains with a stronger string.  This will prolong the length of the main strings and force you to break the horizontal - across- strings (crosses).  This will take you much longer to break crosses than mains.

    Here is my suggestion:

Mains - Babolat Pro Hurricane or ALU Big Banger

Crosses - Babolat xcel or any synthetic gut (like what your using now)

That will do the trick, if you still need them to last longer, then i suggest stringing the whole thing with Pro Hurricane or Big Banger, but only as a last resort (those are pretty stiff strings and dont feel so great).

  6. You should buy a stringer and start stringing your racquets yourself.  That's what I did a few years ago.  In the long run, you save a lot of money, and you can string racquets for your friends and family too!  And its even cheaper when you buy reels of string instead of the single packages.  I got a Gamma Progression II, and its been working out great.  Luxilon Big Banger is the most indestructible string out there, but after a month it will get really stiff, and you might need to cut it even before it breaks (and it may not ever break).  People with tennis elbow avoid it like the plague.  Using it with another softer string in the crosses is the only way to go.  But if you do not cut them at some point, you risk elbow problems.  Just get your own stringer, and/or get 1 or 2 backup racquets.
