I seem to remember he faked a disappearance too but can't remember if any canoes were involved.

  1. Hi!!  I seem to remember a Leonard Rossiter playing two series on TV about a character called Reggie Perrin. in the first one he had a dingy guest house with two lodgers, a coloured male, and a lady he was sweet on called Miss Jones. Can`t remember the name though.

The second comedy was " The Rise and Rise of Regginald Perrin, in which he tried to make a complete fool of himself by inventing useless things.

One was a square hoop, but every time people flocked to buy them and he became famous for it. It was a long time ago.

other charactors:  C.J, the mother in law (always saw her as a hippo!

his boss was 'I didn't get where I am today without ...' CJ, his mother-in-law was a hippopotamus, there was Jimmy 'treacherous things, women' and those two guys 'super! and can't remember what the other one used to say

  4. Yes certainly, I didn't get where I am today by forgetting

    Reggie and C.J,

  5. Yes, I remember it well. Sometimes tempted to do the same thing.

  6. I didn't get where I am today without remembering Reggie Perrin, CJ, Joan, Tony and David ....

No canoes involved; as I recall, he just undressed, left his clothes neatly folded, walked out to sea, after kissing his wife goodbye:

"Have a nice day at the office, dear!"

    "I won't"

    and reappeared as Martin Welbourne.

  7. yes they should show it again, rossiter was a genius.
