Anyone remember a film shown in schools in the early 80's about safety on the railways in the UK?

I remember a kid getting his football boots stuck under a rail, whilst crossing the lines.

Cant find it on YouTube. Anyone know anything about it?

  1. It was called "Robbie" and was produced by BTF Productions - their catalogue number for it was BT1273.  There were three different versions of the film (with three different "accidents" relevant to different line-types).

The outcome was that poor Robbie would never play football again!

The films were narrated by Peter Purves when they were made in 1979 - but in 1986 it was decided that poor old Peter wasn't relevant any more and Keith Chegwin redid the voiceover with the exact same script

I can't find any video of it, but there is a small bit here about it (I've given you a link to the cached version because the original page doesn't want to load) http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:b5b...

here's a link to the Wikipedia page about it (which is basically the same info from the British Transport Films page) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbie_(Pub...

You can order a DVD containing Robbie (and another classic harrowing safety film, "The Finishing Line") from here http://www.amazon.co.uk/British-Transpor...
