Question:

Anyone see a Roddick "Upset"?

His first opponent in Cincy will be the huge serving Kohlschreiber. If not Kohl, I see Andy losing to yet another big server, who also has big groundstrokes. I just dont think Roddick is versatile enough to change up his game, create ways to win. Instead he relies on his serve, and always thought that, that alone will get him wins, as well as his quick play. Meaning he is way too hyper, and doesnt take time in between points, always rushing. IM not sayng he has to pick his underwear/butt, bounce the ball 10 times, but, take some time and think, THINK!. Despite his one slam, "back then", he reminds me of a Nalbandian, who possesses talent, but in their own way, not sure how to display it consistently. Do you think Roddick will bow out to Kohl or if not, then who?

  1. if he play robin soderling in third rd n i bet he cant pass it...

  2. Honestly if Roddick hadn't injured his shoulder, he actually might have his first Wimbledon title under his belt. But when you watch his matches he's not the same person.

It's true that Roddick did lose to Kohlshreiber at the Aussie Open, but that's played on that annoying Plexicushion. This surface is better suited for Roddick and his game. I don't see an upset here. Even when Roddick is at his worst he doesn't lose many first matches in a tourney. I think if he plays Karlovic (who he's actually suprisingly good against) he will lose. Other than that, as long as his shoulder is good he should have a semis appearance at worst

  3. I think he is the same guy who defeated roddick at the australian open and i think he can do it again!!

  4. Roddick can beat him. He just has to play consistently and take opportunities. He has to get his strokes in and serve big to win.

  5. I agree in that he needs to take more time to think on the court. Another thing he may need to do better on is HIS BACKHAND!!! That is something that would HUGELY develop his game. However, I can see him getting somewhere, except that it wont be because of the diversity of his game, that's for sure.

  6. not to kohl, i don't think. unless roddick slumps and kohl hits another one of those magical zones

  7. I expect Roddick to be focused and hungry to do well at Cincy.  He won't lose to Kohlschreiber and may surprise us when he plays Federer in the quarters.  I'm pulling for Andy to be a finalist, as long as he's healthy.

  8. Kohlschreiber in 2 sets 6-4 7-5
