Question:

Anyone see the Laguna Seca MotoGP race at the weekend where Rossi (Top Man!) beat Stoner?

Any thoughts on the way Rossi beat him? Wasnt it just old fashioned riding and not Stoner winning on a bike that is so computerised that sometimes it seems he is just along for the ride?

Just seemed like good old fashioned racing to me.

  1. I did and I thought it was cool lol

  2. Rossi has won more races than most of us have had hot dinners ,and has the experience, But the new breed of riders are just as aggressive in their own ways , at least its not a one horse race anymore. Stoner made an error as rossi has done in the past ,they have got 4 weeks break them it starts again and dont forget Rossi has all the same kind of computor assistance as Stoner .Did you see Stoner catching him into turn 1 ,he was going around the outside and still was able stay close ,Rossi is a clever guy he knows where he needs to keep the racing line and on other tracks that have a bit more in the straight personally i feel Stoner would have said seeYa to him

  3. Alls fair in love and war, and yes, racing is war. I saw nothing wrong with how Rossi won the race. Regarless of how Stoner felt about it he should have acted with a little more dignity. As a high profile racer making a lot of money you have to act like a professional, especially in front of the cameras.

  4. good race and rossi was in top form.. but as for stoner being along for the ride i don't agree.. if the ducati was a pussycat to ride then shurely melandri would be pushing for the title as well... he's not found the ducati as simple as that has he.. stoner is a good rider although this weekend he seemed to bottle it under intense pressure from valentino....

  5. That was a GREAT race. The first 10 laps between Rossi and Stoner were out of hand!! You knew they were going tooth and nail when they both left the track in the "Corkscrew"...that was just plain nuts! Rossi is "The Doctor". He got that nickname for a reason. He's the better rider, no doubt. Laguna is by far the most technically challenging track on the MotoGP circuit. Rossi is a master racing technician. He's the perfect type of rider for that track...and he proved it. Stoner struggled to control his breaking throughout the race, and blew it in turn 11 twice...the first time he ran wide, the second time he ran wide, ended up in the dirt, and FELL OVER LIKE A ROOKIE! Rossi's the man. Stoner has a long way to go before he can carry Vale's jock. Stoner is a good rider...but put him on any bike other than the Ducati, and he finishes mid-herd every time.

Racing is Racing. Stoner needs to man up, and take defeat like a champion. There's no room for whining and crying at 180MPH+! Grow some testicles Casey!

  6. We all saw it on Sunday mate.

Kind of a little late in asking this question really !!

Yeah, it was a belting race !!

  7. i totally agree. rossi is king. stoner is good, but needs more races like that under his belt to understand what it is all about. Once he has that there will be no stopping him.

  8. I have said it before Rossi rode the wheels off the Yamaha.

I will take the hate mail and say I agree with Stoner Rossi Braked early.  I also think Stoner had the measure of Rossi and would have beat him.  He Didn't is fair comment.  But you have to trust the guy in front, and IF Rossi did brake early I consider that Unsportsmanlike  and Dangerous.

I am a Fan of Rossi, He Is the best, but he knows better. this isn't the first accusation of this about Rossi.  But Stoner will get revenge in Brno. and He did shake Rossi by the hand on the Podium. He was understandably upset to have lost such a great race.
