I posted this same question over on my Yahoo! Group page:

Hello, Gents-

Has anyone seen a Ruger Mini in 6.8 SPC that you could pick up, touch and even buy? I haven't. If you did, where was it, and how much did they want for it? I was told by the VP of Ruger last year that they would be producing high-caps for it by now. Have you seen any of those anywhere? I refuse to buy a rifle which does not have any over-ten-round magazines available to go along with the gun!

BTW, I will be posting this question on Yahoo! Answers forum also.

Thanks-

Will

  1. Mini 14's are ,223 caliber. mini 30's are 7.62x39.

There is no production mini anything in 6.8 spc. You might be able to buy a barrel blank in 6.8 and have it fitted onto a mini 14 action.

  2. there out there, i just done a quick search and saw a bunch of them on an auction site, but i wouldnt hold my breath waiting on hi caps

  3. Yes I have at a gun show in Mass - $799..... I do own the Ruger Mini 14 and Mini 30 -- several as a matter of fact....  The only reason I have stayed away from the Mini chambered in 6.8 SPC is because of the cost of the ammunition......  I'm cheap and the idea of coughing up about $20 a box isnt very appealing...   On the other hand if you have a specific purpose for wanting a Ruger Mini 14 chambered in 6.8 SPC then by all means buy one..... The other Mini's use .223 and 7.63X39MM and have there advantages and disadvantages..... If one of those cartridges would work better or at least give you similar results I would suggest not getting a Mini in 6.8 SPC....
