  1. Well I'm currently doing a year's placement, so I'll be gone by the summer. But I'm only 21, so still young enough to appreciate the nightlife.

Honestly, nightlife here is pretty incredible. I'm from scotland, where drink measures are poured with a measuring cup and clubs close at three, haha. But here, people are easily out til 6 a.m. and there is no set drink measure, I like to say they just pour til their hands get tired lol (although, be careful in this as you can get drunk easier if you don't know exactly how much you've been drinking). What's more, it's pretty good value to drink out here. A lot of clubs will charge betwen 5 and 10 euros entry fee, but with your entry fee you get one or two free drinks of your choice, so it's good value. Plus there are promotional people from the clubs in the streets handing out promotional vouchers so have a look around and see what good deals you can get.  Clubs play pretty good music, lots of english language music and some spanish, but it's very danceable and sometimes even better than the stuff we make haha :). There are literally clubs and bars everywhere, but if you feel a bit disorientated when you first get here for nightlife, start off at Sol (has it's own metro station and it's a buzzing social area) and work your way around.

Away from the nightlife, there are loads of other cool places to see in this city. You'll be here in the summer, so make sure to take full advanage of lazing around in some of the big parks in Madrid. The first one is the Retiro Park, it's massive and full of people just enjoying the sun with friends in the summer. The other one is a bit further south of madrid (but well connected by the metro, so it's easily reachable) and called Casa de Campo, equally as beautiful and it has a theme park and a zoo in it. Other than that, I'd say to locate some of the beautiful plazas in the city and just sit at an outdoor cafe and enjoy.

Hope this helped, and hope you have a great time in Madrid :)
