I am an amateur boxing and i love the sport. In school i have some punk that does MMA and said that boxing is for "*******" and that we suck at stand up blah blah blah. I am not going to fight him unless he touches me because i dont want to get expelled (even though id KO him haha) but what is up with MMA fighters? Where does this hatred for boxing come from? I don't diss MMA. i just dont care about it.

  1. Well, just tell your friend that you just can't stand the idea of full mounting another half naked male and leave it at that.

My guess is it's roid rage.

  2. You're right, boxing is so much of a better sport and it takes so much more skill.  The reason why I don't like MMA is because whenever I watch it, all they do is hold each other on the ground for like 15 minutes and I just can't stand it.  I want to see action and people getting hit and knocked out, and boxing gives that to me.  They diss boxing because they can't do it and they'd rather hold each other on the ground than actually stand up and fight each other.  They also think their sport is more violent, but its not.  Ask any qualified person and they'll tell you that you have a greater chance of getting permanent damage or dying in boxing than you do in MMA.  The reason: you are taking so much more hits to the head which results in bleeding on the brain or dementia pugilistica (parkinson's).

  3. I like your attitude.  I agree that anyone, especially in the amatuer ranks, who puts on a pair of gloves is deserving of respect.

To put this into perspective, the top athletes in any sport would beat the top athletes of other sports.  In a no rules street fight, a boxer versus a MMA guy would be difficult to call.  If the fighters remained upright the boxer would prevail.  If it went to the ground the MMA guy would prevail.  There are many other factors, and I have over-simplified it, but you get the idea.

I used to watch UFC before the weight classes, rounds and rules.  Now that they have all that, boxing is better.

  4. weather it be the ring or the cage any fighter deserves respect

  5. Mate, I fight Pro Heavy Weight and can tell you for a fact that these MMA clowns can't box, that's why they go to MMA. I still spar with these guys from time to time when they want to sharpen their "so called" boxing skills and can tell you first hand they are real easy to knock around the ring. MMA is fluke fighting with no real science. Look at their records, the Champs all have high loss records due to a bad toss of the coin. In boxing you don't fluke, you goota earn it and if you get dropped it's by the better man who trained harder and applied his trade better.

Plus MMA are half naked guys rolling around the ring mounting each other and in any mans book that's just not right!!

The punk at school is a r****d, if he had the concentration, ability and brains he would be boxing not playing sausage jockey in MMA!!

  6. It gets right on my nipple hair when people diss any sport/art that is different from there own.  MMA practitioners have to be good all round fighters (stand up, clinch, ground and pound, grappling and submission), while boxers only train to use their hands.  That's why boxers are so fast, the heavy weight guy who said he would destroy any MMA fighter, I'm sure you would mate in the ring using boxing rules.  However if you went into the cage and they spiked you and put a submission on you, then they have the upper hand.

I train in kickboxing and Thai boxing and I am lightning quick, however I have a mate who I train with who is a jujitsu expert and he taps me every time.  But stand up he can't even hit me, it all depends on what you train for?

Finally did you know boxing was very similar to MMA once over, basically it was no holds barred with throws, kicking gouging etc.  So in essence companies like the ufc and pride are going back to boxing routes?

  7. i think they do that, cuz boxing is more popular than MMA...

so just dont care of it bro..

  8. if mma fighters step into the boxing, they could get destroyed, if boxers step into mma, they would get destroyed also. it's two different sports, i like both.. but in my oppinion, in mma you need to be more well rounded and well conditioned . i also love boxing, i know they train really hard and dedicate themselve,  boxing and mma both deserves respect, and they are really two different sports,

  9. Your going to find dummies in all sports. Most comments ever heard from MMA guys gives respect to boxing because they have to train in boxing also to fight.

Like both sports but several old time boxing guys dis mma. So maybe where that comes from. dont worry about him . KO him just make sure you sprawl good if he ties to take you down.

  10. i like you am a boxer at heart.. don't dis other sports but they can't hold a candle to boxing..the sport that takes the most heart.. by far..
