I like Gomez hes a good guy, and he is good he did retire Arturo Gatti. But... Cotto is in a class above him, he will outclass Gomez.  We have seen Cotto handle hard punchers (Torres, and btw he is much better now than when he fought torres)  and we have seen him with great boxers (Mosley) This will be like the carlos maussa fight.  Im not a cotto fan i just respect his game. Too much power, speed and technical ability for Gomez KO 5 round.  On the other hand my boy mayweather would woop his head lol...

Gomez does have a shot.  But it will be tough though.

Cotto is slow, his chin is questionable as Torres showed, and he slowed way down in the Mosley fight in rounds 8-12.

Gomez is young, tough BUT he is small and he needs more experience.

I disagree. I believe Gomez has a shot.  He is not a big puncher but he will fight his heart out and look at what Carlos Baldomir did to Zab Judah a few years ago in a fight no one thought Judah would lose.  Cotto is good but he is no Mayweather.  Cotto late KO or tough 12 rd decision.

No not really i think Gomezs popularity from being on the contendor series is the reason why he has got this shot against Cotto. Its similar in that sense to the Joe Calzaghe v Peter Manfredo fight, and i expect it to end similarly too probably around the third by Ko or stoppage.

Possibly if cotto chops both his arms off before the fight  , Gomez just might have a chance.

I don't think he has a real shot.  He'll hang around but be worn out by Cotto's body work.  I see a TKO in the later rounds.

The only chance he has in my view is the puncher's chance of landing one freak shot full-force to Cotto's chin.  But I don't see it happening.
