1) why would China risk disqualification being the Olympic host and after all the criticism that has been given about China being the host and how they are going to host it? All they want, is to make a perfect Olympic event and putting underage girls in the gymnastic event would ruin it.

2) There are billions of people in China, why would they put someone underage, its not like they can't find any 16 year old girls in the country that also does gymnastics.

3) Have you seen: most Asians look younger than their age and their shorter than most your typical Americans.

3) this is a case on racism and the lost of the USA team more than age. if china didn't win, would there have been an investigation. the answer would be NO.

  1. it has been solved the girls are confirmed once again that they are of age, just bitter people who cannot accept defeat and would do anything to discredit the winners

  2. The investigation is valid.  This has nothing to do with race. As mentioned during the gymnastics of the Olympics, these young girls are taken from their families at around age 3.  These girls eat, sleep and live gymnastics.  If one of them wins a gold medal, the family gets a house.

Several of these girls appear to be no more than 8 or 9, at most.  Any good orthopedist can tell the age of a child by the benchmarks of that particular age, also the LACK of benchmarks that would indicate a person in their teens.  I understand that many Chinese women are small, but these little girls are pre-pubescent, even if  their outfits have been designed to give the appearance of a bosom.

Some of those girls had babyish faces, not at all the faces of a youngster in their teens.

Considering the intensity of their training, it is indeed possible for underage children participating, which SHOULD be investigated.

  3. people need to quit bitching.

  4. i agree with you

but the more we talk about it, the more others talk about it, and the longer this mess stays alive

  5. YES I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU AND I THINK ITS COMPLETELY STUPID

YES I AM CHINESE AND I DON' KNOW ABOUT YOU

AND I'M COMPLETELY SICK ABOUT HOW PEOPLE ARE ACCUSING HER OF BEING UNDERAGE

    AND YOU'RE COMPLETELY RIGHT

MOST ASIANS DO LOOK UNDER THEIR AGE!

LOOK AT ME, A LOT OF PEOPLE MISTAKE ME FOR 12 WHEN I'M 14 AND I'M AS TALL AS NASTIA LUIKIN WHOS 18

    AND SHE WAS PROVEN INNOCENT

AND JUST BECAUSE US LOST TO CHINA, DOESN'T MEAN THEY HAVE TO INVESTIATE!!

    AHHHHHH

    china still beat the US

but i still love the US team though

  6. no I dont think its stupid, especially since I found this article in which one of the chinese gymnasts has admitted that she cheated in the Sydney games so what would stop them from doing it again?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080823/ap_o...

  7. And not to insulting China enough; I have found that NY Times hasn't proof that the 2000 Bronze Medalist said that she was 14 while Peter N trust their own propaganda.

    http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/current...

This blog has been introduced by a friend of mine. As I read the user 'Herodotus' talking about and refuting arguments over others about Yang Yun's story on PAGE 2 and 3 that she said that she is 14, I'm having doubt that the NY times has any video-proof of the interview or what exactly did Yun said.

What do you think? This may also cause confusion about reports (AP report) that said China has a history of putting under-aged girl in 2000 of Sydney. How can they prove this? Did the NY Times faked Yang Yun's Sydney Olympics story so they can get leverage on their underaged claim?

  8. actually its kinda important

    cuz rules are rules

and plus first of all chinese lied about the little girl lip singing

which is lying to the WHOLE world

and if they lied about the underage issue

the chinese are lying 2nd TIME to the whole world

    they should be ashamed

well we have to wait and see if they're underaged or not

  9. You must be Chinese.

  10. it is RIDICULOUS. No proof being shown, but loud mouths saying "underage, underage". They just sound like idiots.

Show the proof of being underage or SHUTUP.

  11. I will not say that I know the answer but I will repat what I have said time and time again over the last few days.

Ok..1 There has NOT been any PROOF that these gymnasts are "underage"... That is the problem!

I think that very little done by the IOC can be trusted as they are one of the most self serving and corrupt organisations on the planet... HOWEVER...

The Chinese authorities have provided proof of age that would stand up in any court in the world. Passports are the required evidential standard... so what else do you want them to do?

The athletes say they are 16... their passports say they are 16... their government confirms that the documents are valid and that they are 16...

By any LEGAL evidential measure, they have PROVEN their age, where the other side has been making UNSUBSTANTIATED allegations! No proof... no play!

I am not saying that they ARE , or ARE NOT any age... I am saying that short of an autopsy (which would still not be conclusive) there is really nothing more that can be doneby the IOC unless one of the accusers can provide EVIDENCE of an equal evidential standard to that provided by the Chinese athletes and their govt.

Sorry, like it or not, those are the rules and any allegations WITHOUT proof have to be treated as worthless!

  12. China already cheated in 2000, Yang Yun, so why wouldnt they cheat again?

"Yang Yun is currently involved in an age controversy regarding her participation in the 2000 Summer Olympics. The minimum age requirement for a female gymnast to compete in the Olympics is fifteen, turning sixteen the year of the year of participation. However, in a state sponsored documentary entitled "Yang Yun: My Olympics", Yang allegedely states, "I was fourteen years old in Sydney. So I thought that even though I fall this time, I could do better next time. I would have another chances.""

  13. American Sore Losers: China was cheating by using underage gymnasts

IOC: Do you have concrete proofs?

American Sore Losers: Just look at them, they look like 10 year olds.

IOC: They cannot be called concrete proofs

American Sore Losers: The articles in the net are proofs

IOC: They cannot be called concrete proofs

American Sore Losers: How will you investigate then?

IOC: We will request documents such as passport and IDs.

American Sore Losers: The passports were issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry! The identity card was issued by China's Ministry of Public Security!  China is notorious for falsifying documents!

IOC: If these valid documents are not enough to clarify this problem, then what will you believe?  The Chinese government and the Chinese athletes must be respected.

American Sore Losers: They cheated, no respects needed.

IOC:  They are innocent unless proven guilty.  This concept of the presumption of innocence is one of the most basic in the most system of justice, including the US judicial system.

American Sore Losers:  I don't care what is innocent unless proven guilty.  We only applied that in US soil.  We don't applied that presumption in Iraq.  Thousand of Iraqi were in jail for years without trial.

IOC:   But we need to be fair with everyone.  Even though you don't want to respect others, that does not mean we don't respect others.  You need to stop assuming that The Chinese gymnasts violated the rules.

    American Sore Losers:  Screwed you!

  14. the answer would be YES. there are at least 2 girls that they have shown that are under the age of 16. by there own government! yes the are shorter, but not that short. its not racism its wanting the Olympics to be a clean & truthful sporting event. so NO i don't think its wrong.

  15. 1) To win gold and prove the superiority of communism over democracy. They have also pulled the same cheat in past Olympic games. Yang Yun won a bronze medal in 2000 has since come out and admitted she was 14 when she competed. She had a passport from China that stated she was 16 then as well. So...judging from past behavior...I'd say that the likelihood China is cheating this time around is pretty high.

    2) The best gymnasts are younger. It gets harder as you get older. They want to win and show the world how good they are.

    3) Most 16 year olds are not under 50 pounds no matter what race the are. Also, 16 year olds do not have baby teeth.

    4) If the Chinese don't have anything to hide...why are they so upset with an investigation?! Only the guilty would be upset. I would think that they would welcome an investigation to prove their innocence to the world. Its not racism...its about fair play. If China cheated...then they cheated the world and the world deserves better!

  16. Yeah it has been blown way over proportion. Why weren't any of the American runners ever been accused of using steroids when they really did? Why do they all have to admit to using steroids? You think people testing athletes for performance enhancement drugs are putting half as much energy as they are trying to prove these girls underage? I bet many many Olympians have used steroids but just stayed quite about it.

Edit: They talk about how under aged girls perform gymnastics better, what about Americans that grew up on milk from cows with growth hormones? Wouldn't that help them in sports that requires a lot of strength?

  17. No, there are rules & people have to go by them. Maybe she is the right age, but maybe she's not....fair is fair, if everyone else has to go by the rules, so does the host country.

  18. I agree this is stupid. Why can't they just leave them alone, alot of Asians are short and look younger. People are just complaining because America didn't win. The Chinese did good and deserve their medals. All of your reasons are correct.
