It had red toffee around it like the kind you get on candy/toffee apples... and in the inside was warm mashed up coconut and I suppose some other ingredients.... does anyone know the name of this delicious treat... and if so... know a good recipe for them... I bought one when I was stuck on the highway and some street workers were selling them... it is the most delicious thing I have ever ate....!! Thank you in advance!!

  1. Yes, it's called 'coquito' and it's very delicious, you can find it in red, white and brown i think... I really don't know the recipe, but you're right, they're made mostly of coconut and a typical ingredient called 'papelon', which is like a very dark and sweet sugar. I think they mash everything together and make little balls with the dough, but I'm not sure.

There's also another similar candy called 'Besitos de coco' which is made of coconut too, but is a little bigger in size.

    Hope this helps.
