  1. My Mom hates to fly and came to visit me in Fl from Pa via the train.  Her only complaint was that they charged her to use a blanket.

  2. its a bit expensive but if you  have a sleeper all your meals

    are included in  the fare,

    (i tried it once I found  its kind of hard to fall alseep when your bed

    is going 70 miles down the tracks!

    (but apparnetly I did eventally fall asleep)

  3. I have travelled by train across the US, China, Russia and Europe.

    Flying is faster and cheaper.

    The Europeans trains are fast and in the top bunk you have a feeling that you will fall out.

    Going through strange small towns in the dead of night is an experience, especially if you have no understanding of the language or culture.

    Flying= cheaper,faster convienent

    Trains=slower, expensive, less scheduled (US).....cooler

  4. I always use the sleeping car. yes, the quarters are cramped, but it is so much better than not sleeping at all (my experience in coach.) It is about the same price as a hotel room would cost, plus all your meals are included. It is also nice to have someplace private to go during the day when you don't want to be out among all the other passengers. I highly recommend the sleeping car.

  5. It can be really neat if you like being closed in. It is a very tiny space and the motion can get you a little nauseous. Take along some Dramamine for the nausea. If it is a very long trip bring along a really good book or perhaps books on tape for your ipod. If you have a portable DVD that will help pass the time. If you like crossword puzzles or just some really good music. I personally do not like being confined in small places. But if your traveling with someone you love and the feelings mutual then it's all good. It is expensive and slow I much rather take a plane or drive if I am traveling long distances. But it is defiantly worth the experience.

    Have a wonderful trip

    God Bless

    Peace

  6. I have and it was a fair experience and yes it is expensive.
