  1. hi, i had this same concern when i had my second child. i actually did go as far as using the camera, but found nothing. but that doesnt mean you shouldnt try it!

  2. Hi there, I dont have children myself, yet. one on the way, but i would definantly use them. I dont see why not you want to make sure your child is safe and that your babysitter isnt mistreating your children while you are not home. It can also make the mother feel alot better about who she is leaving at home with her kids.. And after you see that the person you have there is treating your children wonderfully, you can put the camera away. I think its a good idea, I know i would definantly want to use one. And if not a nanny cam.. maybe a tape recorder so you can hear what is going on a little less invasive but still as equally effective, probably cheaper too

  3. I don't think there is anything wrong with using nanny cams.  It is not even about whether or not you trust the person, it is about being proactive in your child's life and looking out for him/her.  It is the parent's job to do that, not to make sure the care provider feels trusted.

I think it is ridiculous that a care provider would say "I am not sure I would continue working for someone who uses nanny cams."  Get over it.  If you aren't mistreating the child then who cares, right?

There is a time period that must pass before anyone, care provider or not, can be trusted.  Trust isn't something that is just handed out.  I would never trust a baby sitter immediately.  If I did and something happened I am half to blame.

  4. well i am a babysitter and i think that is a bad idea because you should have trust in your babysitter enough if you dont find a new one

  5. I am a licensed child care provider and I can understand why a parent would want the nanny cam, but I don't think I could continue providing care for a family that doesn't trust me.  I would not mind the nanny cam at all, but I wouldn't feel trusted..

On the other hand, as a parent, I do see how it can be useful.

A lot of day cares have cameras that can be viewed anytime of day by the parent.  There is no secret about it.  Parents and providers know it is there.  If my families (that I provide care for) wanted to put one in so they could see their child at any time of day, I would be all for it.  I wouldn't feel at all un- trusted in that situation.  I just don't see why it has to be a secret.

Redstring...If you are referring to me, you have misquoted me and as a result,  misunderstood me.  I would not be unsure about providing care for a family with a nanny cam,; I would feel unsure about providing care for a family who doesn't trust me.  But I agree that one should NEVER trust a child care provider immediately.  That would be foolish.
