I am pregnant and I think I want to use one of these two when I have the baby. Which one did you have and how did it work?

  1. I had Mirena but i had serious problems with it. I have a tipped uterus and a short cervix, so every time my fiance and i had s*x, i felt it scraping on the inside. My midwife told me that because of my tipped uterus, that i would probably never be comfortable with an IUD. Every woman will have different experiences, but for me, it was so uncomfortable that i had it removed after only having it for 2 months. In those 2 months, it shifted position so severely, that i now have scar tissue in my uterus from it. At least, thats what my midwife said anyways!

  2. I was on Implanon for 6 years before i got pregnant.   They insert the implant into your arm just under the skin.  i couldn't see it and only remembered it was there when i brushed my hand over it in the shower!!!   I found it to be great not to worry about the pill or shots however the only problem i had with it was irregular light spotting. (annoying!!)

    Otherwise it was good.

  3. I have the Mirena now and I love it most of the time.  I am free without worry of having a period.  Sometimes, like once every two months, I experience some cramping and/or breakthrough bleeding.  However, I have since realized  that it comes from being around the other females in my office having their cycles.  I love the Mirena because I am able to "get down" whenever and I don't have to worry about getting pregnant or having a period.  The biggest downfall I have experienced with this device (and it unexplainable by my doctor) is a slight painful discomfort when I got it inserted up until I had had it about a year and an half. The sensation comes and goes as well as unpredictable.  It lasts for about a minute but it left me in a cold sweat and unable to move until I recovered moments later.  I have since had it three years and the "spells" have subsided.  All in all, the Mirena was the likely choice for me because it was as close to the Depo shot as I could get.  My doctor suggested I choose something else when the warnings about osteoporosis were out a few years ago.  Just research the facts about which BC you want and compare that with you, your lifestyle and commitment.  You'll find the right one for you!

  4. implanon is great. i've had mine in now for just over a year. i think it's the best option because it lasts for 3 years and all you have to do is get it inserted just underneath the skin in your arm. my periods have completed stopped since i got the implanon put in but every woman is different. no worrying about injections or remembering to take a pill everyday. it's comfortable in my arm as well. you can't feel it and nobody knows it's there because you can't see it. they'll only know if you tell them.

  5. I have Mirena and I love it!!! In the beginning after it was first inserted I had a bit of cramping (nothing intolerable though) and when I have my period I get a bit more crampy/moody than usual, but I bleed a lot lighter as well.

  6. I had my son almost 4 months ago and at my 6 week check up i got the Mirena put in and I love it!!! I dont have to worry about pills or shots or patches or that ring! it is pretty costly if you dont have insurance it is about 600 bucks but if you do you might want to call your insurance and see how much is covered.  Also it has made my period go away for right now( one of the side effects is lighter period) and NO WEIGHT GAIN!!!!
