how do i do questions like these on my calculator

three bicycle tyres and four pumps cost 95.60 while two tyres and three pumps are 68.20. find the total cost of buying a tyre and a pump.

so what i wrote down is

3x+ 4y=95.60

2x+ 3y=68.20

how do you put this in the calculator? thanks

  1. well u have to rearrange it so its like y=mx+c

    (y's on one side and x's on other.) and make sure theres only a 1  in front of the y. ie

    3x+4y=95.60

    4y=95.60-3x

    y= 95.60/4 -3x/4

    Then you go Aplets --->  Solve on ur Calc. And in S1 (or watever its called u put first equation in (not y side so ie 95.6/4 -3x/4) Put in 2nd question in S2.

    Press Num -- and then press solve - will solve for x. then sub the number back into equation for y.

    Or u could enter same equations into 'Function' then press plot. Where the two lines intersect (x,y) the x value = x and the y value = y

    ok... that was long. Hope it was of some help

  2. Your Question is under the catergory Perth. It would be better to put it in the homework or maths catergory.
