Anyone used a window a/c in through the wall?

Also, anyone done that without the case? With the case its a hair to tall for the opening. I put in without out the case, put on the side curtains and taped up the gaps, and used foam for the top and bottom of the unit. not sure how that will work when it gets really hot.

The case needs to be on for the a/c to work properly.

Without the case it doesn't have the protection from the weather.

Water or animals may get in and cause damage. Shouldn't affect the operation tho.

The case makes it easy to remove to maintain and repair the unit.

Edit: When you say through the wall you mean an outside wall right?

You have to be on an outside wall so the heat being removed goes to the outdoors or  you will only move the heat to the otherside.
