Anyone used the Angelcare movement monitor in a moses basket?

I've just ordered the Sound and Movement monitor but my son still sleeps in his moses basket (for another couple of weeks at least!)

Has anyone used the sensor pad in their moses basket? Does it work? And, our cot (crib) has a plywood base but it's not one solid sheet, it's wooden slats abotu 3 inches wide spaced about 2 inches apart. Do I need to get a piece of plywood to go on top of it/under the mattress?

Thanks!

  1. Hi, I have the Tommee Tippee monitor.  I didnt use it in her moses basket, she very rarely slept in it anyway (prefers lying on me during the day).  I did use it in her crib during the night, but my crib had a solid ply base.  She didnt seem settled in her crib at nighttime and is now in her cot - it had a slat base and I tried the monitor but it did alarm a few times, my hubby put a sheet of ply on the base for the monitor to sit on.  I also re-read the monitor instructions after the alarm went off to discover there were different sensitivity settings (factory set at medium - which is suitable for foam mattresses), but I have an amicor sprung mattress and it is recommended to have on the "high" setting.  So, I don't know whether putting the ply on has helped or not as it alarmed due to not being at the correct setting, but for extra peace of mind I'd put some ply on the crib base below the mattress.  There have been no more alarms thankfully!!

  2. I used it in a bassinet with my son for 3 months with no problem

  3. I'm not sure about the moses basket as I never used one, but when you move him to the crib, you'll need one solid piece of plywood - I believe that's what the instructions say.  We used a plywood sheet the same size as the mattress at home, but when we traveled we would use a piece of plywood only slightly larger that the sensor pad itself.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this monitor!  Best invention for moms!
