Question:

Anyone using the Mirena for birth control?

I started using it about seven weeks ago and have been bleeding ever since. The doctor said that if this keeps up we should probably take it out. I really don't want to go on the pill b/c it tends to make me a little crazy. Has anyone had any experience with this? Will the bleeding stop at some point?

  1. i started on the mirena about the beginning of june & couldn't stop bleeding either but about 2 weeks ago i stopped & no other problems so i don't know.

  2. Bleeding and spotting is normal for weeks after IUD is inserted.

If it's just spotting, I wouldn't be too nervious, but bring it up anyway.

However, if it continues to prolongs, there's a chance that your uterus wall was punctured while insertion. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen. It may be something you want to ask when you see your doctor. You don't have to be stuck on the pill- i know some people's body will reject the IUD... But if that's the case, ask to see if it would be possible to let some time pass & try again (like 6 months down the road). I mean, that's just something I would do, cuz I was on the pill, & I hated it. Just don't force your body, & go with anything your doctor says obviously

  3. Some people have irregular bleeding for the first few months after getting mirena.Your doctor should have told you this.Mine only last a few weeks but I have heard of others that have had it longer. If it continues and you are worried about it,you could always just put a call in the your dr and ask them about it..
