I LOVE FLORENCE! Yes, but the longer you have the better. I was there for five days and did not want to leave. A lot of the most important renaissance art is there. And the food is great. Lots of great small restaurants and cafes. The city is beautiful. You must go see Michelangelo's David! Pictures do not capture how incredible it is.

Yes , if you are already in Italy, if you mean you are going for a weekend from the u.s. and flying 8 hours to Florence for the weekend I would say save your money, you need atleast a week or two to see Italy!

Yes it is. There is so much more to it than just the art and the history and architecture which by themselves are fabulous, but more than you could probably take in in a weekend. However,  around Florence nearby are  hills with ancient castles surrounded by olive groves and the wine vineyards. A wine tour is a must, and also you might want to visit the beautiful seaside paradise called Cinque Terre which means "Five lands". I have to mention, too, that Florence is in Tuscany and Tuscan food is so good. You might just do restaurant tour. Hope this helps.

HI I live in Florence, maybe, i can help you...The airport is not really far from the city ,is about 10 minutes by car, from the airport ( Ameringo Vespucci) you have two options you can take a taxi or a special bus (ATAF) that will get you to the station (Santa Maria Novella) which is  situated in the city of Florence, the bus tickets costs around 4.50 euro. Florence is a beautiful place is magic full of monuments Piazza del Duomo, Palazzo Pitti, uffizi if you are interested in art and architecture you  have to visit Florence...is a good place for shopping  too, in the city you can find Gucci,Armani, Dolce&gabbana, luis vuitton  store and much more... near to Florence there are 2  famous outlet  one is in (Leccio- Raggello) where you can buy gucci, fendi, la perla, valentino and much more with 70%discount  the other one is situated in ( Barberino del Mugello). http://www.comune.firenze.it/servizi_pub... what?? surely it's worth!! florence is wonderful, always! just beware of those restaurants in the centre that ask you 5 euro for a coffee.. good trip!

Florence is for people who like art. I didnt enjoy it because it was too crowded. Weekend is 2 short to see all of florence. and if you go as far as florence sure u need to see pisa tower as well. also the uffizi possibly needs advance booking for entry , please check on that too

Also depends where you are going to come from. Florence is well connected to rest of italy by train so dont force urself to fly to pisa. Aeroporto Galileo Galilei Pisa is 80 Km from Florence. Terravision operate a bus into Florence city centre. The Journey time is approximately 70 minutes and cost is €8 one way.

It's a beautiful city, certainly. We flew into Bologna and drove down, so I can't tell you about the airport, sorry.

If you want to go to the Uffizi, be aware that by booking ahead you can avoid the horrendous queues (see link below).

A weekend?  OMG a weekend is merely an appetizer.  To see Florence properly you need longer.  If I could, I'd stay a week.

I have been to Florence four times in the last ten years and totally love it and wanna retire there when I'm 80.  A nice manageable place.  Great food, shops sights etc.  No hills. Very romantic.  I think I did City - Stansted then Stansted to Pisa, then take the train from INSIDE the Pisa airport DIRECT to Florence's Main train station.  All very handy but with flight changover times you may waste a day getting there and back.  Stay in one of the big name (but not big price) chain hotels that you are familiar with, so you know what you are getting in terms of accomodation etc. e.g. Comfort, Choice Hotels Group. It is beautiful but is possibly the single most touristy place I've ever been to, but if you can get past the hoards of American and Japenese tourists then it is well worth a visit.

I have never flown to Florence, but you can get cheap ryan air flights to Pisa which is a short train journey away (1 hr)

Florence has a lot to see and the great thing is that most of it is in the centre. Another great city nearby is Siena, well worth a look if you get the chance

yes it is worth it , to see david and the ponte vechio bridge the town is small and dirty, the river po is ugly brown .the food is goodand buying leather is the thing to shop for

Of course!  It's one of the nicest place in Italy.

The airport is in the center of the city.

I would advice also to rent a car and visit the country side which is probably one of the nicest in Europe!

A weekend is only enough to sample Florence and its many, many attractions, so do make it as long a weekend as possible!  If you are planning now, you are probably going to miss the crowds and be able to stroll around at your ease.  You will want to visit the Uffici and the cathedral at the very least, enjoy some of the many good restaurants and take advantage of the fantastic shopping (leather goods are particularly good value).  But even walking around admiring the splendid architecture is a pleasure. If there's time, take the short bus trip to Fiesole in the hills, to visit its ruined temple and enjoy its stunning panoramic view.  Most visitors like to stay in a pensione, as it is far more affordable than a hotel and gives you more of a feeling of being part of the city.  Don't hesitate to go!  You'll want to return!  Again and again!

Florence is a wonderful city(I'm not saying this just because I'm Italian...!!!!)...but it's a little bit expensive and...don't go there if you dont' like pigeons!
