Anyone visited or lived in Barcelona, Spain? I'm vacationing there in 8 weeks and would appreciate any advice

If anyone knows any places that are 'must see' please share. The opposite also rings true, please tell me what you didn't like too, so that I don't waste my time doing lame things.

you must see rambla, a bar near wax museum, gaudi Sagrada Familia, Fiesta at harbour

If you like art the Picasso Museum abd the MIro Musuem.  Also, inthe Bari Gotic you can go underground and see the remains of the Roman City which I thought was pretty cool also.

I also agree with the others. Also an interesting side trip is Girona a medival town that is cool to walk around its compact.

I spent three months in Barcelona, studying part-time and doing the tourist thing.  My top "must see" activities would be:

#1 - Parc Guell

#2 - Las Ramblas

#3 - Sagrada Familia

#4 - Casa Mila

#5 - Picasso Museum AND/OR MACBA (depending if you prefer Picasso or contemporary art)

If you have four days or more, I suggest taking the official Barcelona Tourist Bus on your first day to get an overview of things to see and do.  With the ticket, you get a book of discounts that will easily pay for the cost of the bus if you visit four or more attractions.  There are discounts on everything from Sagrada Familia to Pans & Co. (a chain of fast-food sandwich shops).

Barcelona is very beautiful.  

A lot of lovely houses in Modernista style e.g. Casa Batlo

A good way to see most of the city is to buy a ticket for a hop on/hop off sightseeing bus.

Parc Guel, Sagrada Familia are lovely as well.

Must go to eat a la Champañeria close to el barrio gotico!!! see all the gaudi art go to La sagrada Familia dont pay to go inside the view from the outside its great its not worth to pay for the inside. Go to the beach but take the cercanias train and get off on gthe less corwded beaches, they are more clean. Go to el pueblo español, see the fountain of monjuic at night! have fun its a great city, dont give out money to any one specially to people on the metro telling you they got mugged!!! it´s a lie they tell turist

Barcelona is nice everyhwere, but becareful with petty thieves.

Not to be racist ( it is a fact) watch out for morrocans and some dodgy looking south Americans especially at la Rambla and the beaches.

Go to Montserrat if you can, it's lovely but a tad touristy now. Still worth seeing though if you can make it.

I've heard Tibidabo is nice too but haven't had the chance to go yet.

Parc Güell of course.

And the beaches are great! If you can get out of the city some, even better, there are lots of great places around.
