Anyone watching Bush's speech?

He is promoting drilling and establishing new refineries, but fails to note they will be in an Alaskan wildlife preserve. As an energy alternative, nuclear power versus wind or solar. And now states farmers should be growing power, so we don't purchase from abroad- nevermind the fact that food prices are going up. We can survive without gas- not food. Anyone else find this disgusting?

  1. You have read my mind! He will not leave office until he makes sure he drills into the last untouched land. It  astounds me that he can get away with it! In the next 7 months we will see him do more to our fragile enviorment. The food shortage will get worse if he continues on this path! I do find this Disgusting! How dare he! There are alternatives Wind and solar. I can barely watch him!

  2. nope....thank god for cable....

  3. Pretty soon we all are going to back to cowboy times, riding horses everywhere. i rather do that than to endanger the lives of our wildlife. He says we are making progress in Afghanistan, I hope we really are. I dont see and end to it but I'm doin my job. I get shipped out in Jan.

  4. We can survive without gas?  You must live in the South to make a statement like that.  There are a whole, whole lot of us that live to the north of the Mason Dixon line that would freeze to death in the winter without gas to heat our homes.

However, I agree with you.  Growing our energy, as it now stands, is insane.  Its takes more energy from petroleum to grow crops to produce ethenol than the energy the ethenol actually provides.  Ethenol is a huge smokescreen, and is not the energy of the future.

Nuclear does need to be the power for the future, Im afraid, at least until fuel cells can be practically developed.

  5. No, I'm watching the computer screen but listening to the idiocy. You have to remember that pushing cellulosic ethanol (switchgrass) doesn't get you votes from the farm states or political donations from agribusiness.

I try to look at the bright side. We can't possibly do worse in November.
