Question:

Anyone who had a Sunday wedding...

I have been debating the whole having my wedding on a Sunday thing... I know in most cases it's cheaper than having it on a Saturday.

But my question is... to those of you that DID have a Sunday wedding... did you have a lot of guests that didn't attend because it was on a Sunday?? Or did most of your guest list attend anyway?? And did you do an evening reception or a brunch (times...?)

Thanks! :)

  1. I had my wedding on a Saturday - but my friend did hers on a Sunday because of the cost. She had hers at 4pm on a Sunday evening, but she also made sure that she did hers on a 3 day weekend (November - Veteran's Day) - so most people had that Monday off and almost everyone was able to attend.

The location that she choose gave her the same Sunday price even though it was a 3 day weekend.

I think having it on a 3 day weekend is nice because if people have to travel then they have that extra day. So, you might want to consider that as an option...just make sure that you book it far in advance so you can send out Save the Date cards to inform people before they make plans for that 3 day weekend.

  2. I have been to many Sunday weddings and everyone attends but if it is a night wedding, everyone leaves early. If it is an afternoon wedding then I would expect most people to stay the whole time.

  3. my wedding was on a Sunday, however I'm Seventh-Day Adventist and most people don't even attend weddings on a Saturday.

It was about $10k cheaper in the long run to have it on Sunday. Most of the vendors I found gave me considerable discounts due to this... my venue was cheaper. I also had it at 11am, so I got lunch pricing on my catering, much cheaper than dinner.

Just everything about it was better. Except it wasn't that nice evening romantic feeling... but if you're on a budget, definitely the way to go.

  4. Well I've never attended or will I have a Sunday wedding.

I wouldn't go to a Sunday wedding unless it was a later in the day wedding, such as the evening.

And if I was traveling to go to a Sunday wedding I wouldn't go (unless they were really close to me) because of work on Monday. That is why Saturday weddings work, because they have Sunday to get back before work starts.

Although, you want to get married on a Sunday, I just recommend get married in the evening and maybe choose a 3 day weekend.

    Congratulations!!
