  1. the 250 is slow.....

    and lacks power...

you would be better off getting a yahmaha blaster or a banshee!!

    banshees are helluh awsome!!

  2. h**l yea i got a yz250 its fast as h**l i love it and runs like brand new go for a 250 or i heard they make a mean 450

  3. I have to disagree with the remarks that the Honda or Yamaha is more reliable. The competition in the MX class is so tough these days that if just one manufacturer made a noticeably less reliable bike they would be out of that market altogether. All of the bikes in that class are so close that an average rider could not go any faster on one than the other and they are all very close in reliability. I ride a CRF myself but would not tell you to buy one based on that as many will. Just pick up a mag and read a shootout. You cannot go wrong with any of the big 5 although the Yamaha suspension will be easier to dial in than the KTM you are looking at.

  4. The YZ250F is a reliable bike. More so than a Honda or KTM and with some aftermarket accessories the thing can be fast as you can afford. Maybe ride it stock till you get the feel for it then start adding a system like a Dr.D or a FMF 4.1, re-jet the carb, cams,   JE High Compression Piston. More power is always easy to come by. Handling should be a big concern as well, all the power in the world doesn't make a difference if you can't put it to the ground. I have had Hondas for a while and just switched to a 08 YZ450F. The bike is nice but it did lack in power off the bottom. I changed pipes and re-jetted the carb and it rips.

  5. Both my boys have Crf250r's and have had no problems with them.  My youngest does tend to have the bike ported as he races at a high level, but my eldest has found the bike reliable and not lacking in power.  Perhaps you should consider one of these.

  6. You guy's do understand he is talking about a Dirt Bike a YZ250F, Hello?...It's not a street bike(Edgar) and it's not a ATV(Hollister.)..... You know i do have a buddy of mine that has one i will ask him and i will get back to you on this question.

  7. I read the same article.  They all said the yamaha does everything pretty good but it just didn't stand out enough to make it the number one bike.  You can't compare the 450 to a 250.  Of course it doesn't feel like it lacks power, it's a 450.  If you have ridden yamahas before and feel comfortable on them you should get it.

  8. Get a KX60 and put a ZX12 motor in it. That should give you the power you are looking for dude.

  9. GET A CRF250F!!!! ITS A WHOLE LOT CHEAPER AND A WHOLE LOT BETTER!!! SERIOSLY!!! A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A YAMAHA 250F AND MY DAD HAS A CRF250F!!! MY FRIEND IS SWITCHING TO A CRF CUZ HE LOVES IT WAY BETTER....AND MY DAD LOVES HIS!!! WAY MORE RELIABE, LOWER MAINTENENCE... ITS JUST BETTER!!!! ITS THE ONLY BIKE THAT HAS A SEPERATE THING FOR OIL AND TRANSMISSION FLUID I THINK THATS THE TWO!!! NOT SURE!!!

  10. You will not be disappointed by this bike. I got one about a month ago and I love it. I bought it knowing that it lacked a little in power. All I had to do was throw a sprocket with one more tooth on it and it was perfect. Don't worry about the clutch thing, I don't see the difference. If your not sure, ride the yamaha and the honda 250 if you can. I really like the new honda's but I stuck with what I've always ridden. Either way you won't be let down.

  11. its a great bike, and has tons of power for a 4 stroke 250.

I would not worry too much about the clutch.....
