  1. "Stupid people are out there and they are stalking the land."

  2. All I can find out about this the quote is that it is by Rudy Manikan, nothing more.

  3. I think it is kind of an extension of that old Chinese proverb:

If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.

If you teach a man how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime!

As the other person above said, it is about women being more nurturing and willing to pass on the things they know, and thereby, teaching their children and grandchildren.

    It is a wonderful sentiment.

  4. Im not gunna go too deep into it but general consensus is that a woman is more of a nurturer so whatever she is taught, she will teach her children and her grandchildren who will in time do the same.

  5. I don't believe this quote has anything to do with the Chinese proverb about fish--which is about the difference between welfare and empowerment.  I serve far better by helping others learn how to care for themselves than I do by caring for them.

This quote about educating men and women is very much from the time when women were homemakers and men were breadwinners.  Women raised children and men worked to support the family.  The idea was that anything you taught a man would support him in whatever his profession was, but anything you taught a woman would become part of what she teaches her children--so, through the woman, you teach the whole familiy--mom and the kids (and perhaps Dad, too, though that's not essential to the equation).

By and large, there is still some truth to this.  Women are still more likely to be raising the children then men are, even if the women are working also.  And, of course, the expression ignores the roles of men who teach (like me!).

  6. Sounds sexist.
