  1. Hey, i have been to Tryp Cayo Coco 3 times, 2 times for 2 weeks and once for 1 week, the last time i was there though was like 05'. The staff is freindly, and the property is nice, cayo coco is also nice too as this a private beach as oppose to a public beach so you dont have to worry about vendors or pp trying to sell you things. Also cayo coco is its own little island, no one lives in cayo coco, there is a toll booth so you are either staying there or working there. There is a  city is moron, it is a short drive down that long winding causeway, but its quite desolate and i only mention this because of the safety factor, so even if you are on the beach at 3am, no worries mate!!!  very safe indeed!!

I have been to cuba 8 times in total, different provinces and islands so i have tried to be diverse not same resort all the time. I love cuban food, i feel so healthy when i eat it, in fact when i come back home, it takes me about 1 week to even look at the food here never mind eat it.... i guess cuz psychologically i know everything there is fresh from the farm and all our stuff is sitting in warehouses or on airplanes to get here, fruits and veggies(unless you visit local farms) but you see where im going with this.... the food at tryp is ok, i can say without any doubt the best food i had was in holguin at sol rio de luna y mares resort. This was amazing.... but tryp is ok for 1 week but after 2 weeks like we did, you want and need a change,

If pancho the goat is still there, say hello he hangs out with his owner by the piano bar after dinner right by the nightly entertainment, we would bring him food from the buffet, and i would also buy him bottled water but he ususally wasnt thirsty just hungry, he likes cucumbers, lettuce, fruit and things of this sort. I dont know if all the same gang is there from when we went, but if they are here are a few names: Marcos, Stevie, Alberto, Nelson, Eucledis and Richard(lifeguards) i cant think of any others but these guys are nice and stevie speaks like 5 languages fluently so im sure whatever your native tongue is, he knows it....

Dress code for al a carte, as long as its not shorts, you are fine, even jeans is ok, but no beachwear, you dont need dress jackets or nothing like this, its nice but its not that up scale. As i said ihave been there 3 times and i didnt see 1 jellyfish, altho everyones experience is not going to be the same.

Thats it for now, and rememeber to look after the gardeners and pp who do the property upkeep, we always give to the bartenders, chambermaids, and entertainment staff. These are not the pp in need, if you see a garderner who is sweating up a storm, go buy a beer from the store and give it to him inconspicuously. or give them things we bring down as well such as hygiene products and such. They have families as do everyone else there. Hope i was helpful....

  2. Hi it's me Tropicales lol! Just saw your question today...Tryp is a fabulous resort as Richard K mentioned. It's beautiful in design and very open and bright.

The beach is simply gorgeous! Clear turquoise blue water and soft white sand...just beautiful!!!

The food is great as well as the service. The a la carte restaurants are actually really good! I recommend you try all of them. The Beach grill, La Picúa, serves excellent food at lunch time and is perfect if you don't feel like going in to the main buffet restaurant (which is really good as well).

The jellyfish aren't that bad. Sometimes you may end up seeing them if there's been a good rainfall and the ocean has seemed to 'kick up' a little and may be a little rough...but not that rough. The odds of getting stung by a jellyfish are minimal. Someone I know had gotten stung before and a friend of mine got stung on the last trip I was on (in October). I took my friend immediately to the beach grill and got vinegar. Vinegar works wonders to calm and settle the sting right away. BUT that's IF it happens....I usually like to go to Cuba around the end of summer and it's a great time to go.

The reviews I've seen for Tryp are rarely bad. I'm not sure what reviews you're talking about, but whatever negative comments you've seen don't really hold water. You may be reading comments of those who had an attitude towards the staff or food...and these may also be the ones who usually will have Tim Horton's for breakfast everyday and complain about the full variety of food (only because it's not what they have at home)...the negative comments are from those that do not usually have an open mind when travelling to a country and culture different from their own.

Cuba is a beautiful place and the people are wonderful. They will make you feel at home and will easily befriend you if you are genuine with them.

I honestly have seen many be rude and disrespectful to the staff when they couldn't get something they wanted immediately. And we all know that in the hospitality business sometimes you just need to wait and be patient. At Tryp they are efficient and helpful. However, as with anywhere in the world, if one is rude and looks down at anyone working there, they may not be received very well. This I've seen before at Tryp and I give credit to the staff for not being rude back.

The staff at Tryp are hardworking and the resort is clean.

You will love the Entertainment Staff! (Steve, Nelson, Sandra, Fermin, Niurka, Marielis, Joel, Manuel, Arelys, Ceclia, Reilín, Tomaira, Viana, Marco....someone mentioned some names but I thought to add a few more so you'll know the rest of the friends....and the lifeguards mentioned are actually still there and you'll meet a few more such as Vladmir and Yonas)...

Each one is quite a character and will have you having a ball the minute you arrive. There is a lot to do at the resort...lots of games, water activities, etc....and if you don't want to do anything either, it's very easy to relax and no one will get in your way. Tryp is one of the livelier resorts along the beach strip. You'll notice that when you walk along the beach.

Check out the flamingos at Tryp while you're there too. And don't forget the daytrips. It'll be nice to get out and see nearby town and even fly to Havana for the day if you can.

And the waiters/waitresses are very accomodating and helpful...and not just for tips either. Keep an eye out for Yordi, Abelino and Luisa (among many others).

A good piece of advise for you....make sure you book your room on the 3rd floor (or 2nd if you prefer)...but try to avoid the 1st floor rooms. They tend to be mustier, damper because of the nature of the tropical place. Even some of the top floor rooms can be (but not necessarily) a little musty but that's only because of the humidity...and once the air-conditioning is on, it's all good.

Email me if you there's anything else you need to know.

Have a fabulous time at Tryp! You're only a 15 minute drive from the airport...so you can get right into your trip as soon as you land!

  3. Give yourself a few minutes until Tropicales answers.  She can fill you in on absolutely everything about Tryp Cayo Coco.  I stayed next door at blau Colonial which I enjoyed very much.  I wandered through the Tryp and it is beautiful.  You are in for a treat.
