If anyone has, can they tell me what the drive is like? Is their anything I need to look out for? I'm trying to get there in the shortest amount of time, I've got my G2, not quite sure if that really matters. But please do tell me what you thought of the drive! Thanks :)

  1. never done the drive, but i would double check you dont need your full G liscence to drive into another country.  pretty sure you do

  2. I have done this drive a few times... in a car, and in a tractor trailer.

Cross at Sarnia-Port Huron !  It is easier, and cleaner.

When you cross at Sarnia, take the highway that will put you on I 69... that way you can avoid Detroit.  It will bring you through the central part of Michigan, and cross I 94, where you can take that west to Chicago.

Chicago traffic is busy all the time.  Toronto is a piece of cake compared to Chicago.

It's about a 8 - 9 hour drive... but if you factor in border crossing and the occasional bathroom break/rest stop... you should allow yourself about 10 - 11 hours.  That will give you a bit of time for dealing with traffic too.

If you have your full G license, that is good.  Make sure you have it and your birth certificate for crossing at US Customs.  If you have a passport, it will make things easier, but at this point it is not required by law if you are driving into the US.

Be alert, drive safe, and don't speed.  Michigan State Police are sticklers for the speed limits.
