i got braces in march and recently got teeth extracted because my teeth had no room to move, now my teeth are all over the place, is this normal? will the orthadontist correct this? he obviously will for me to have an outcome of straight teeth but will it get fixed asap? im going back to get my wires tightened end of august for the first time since my teeth have been taken out...

also another question..

is there anyway for an orthodontist to quicken to process?

2 months before im supposed to get my braces off i have to go overseas for 4 months :( so does anyone know what will happen? im hoping i can get them off before i go?

  1. It is a time-consuming long process and cannot be cut short!

  2. JAY, please do not ask your orthodontist to try to speed up the process or he may take the braces off earlier in order to please you. Sometimes, dental professionals may finish treatment ealier simply because a patient is asking regularly how much longer it may be. If you are going to be away for four months your orthodontist may decide its best to leave the braces on ( this will more than likely hold the teeth in place more sturdily ) the longer braces are on, the better! and when you get them retainers, wear them all the time!

    hope it helped JAY, bye.

  3. The process cannot be made so that it's a shorter process, good luck anyway! :)B

  4. First off all the doctor knows what hes doing. Considering the conditiion of your teeth you will NOT get them off in time to go overseas. Most people have braces on for years.

  5. The orthodontist knows what they're doing but if your concerned that your teeth are moving where they're not supposed to because of the braces, then make an appointment to go and see him/her and ask if everything is ok.

How long you have braces on will depend on how fast your teeth move and how crooked they were to start off with. I was told that I was supposed to have my braces on for no more than 2 years but 4 years later i've still got them on.

Since you only just got the braces fitted it's unlikely that you'll have them off before you go overseas. Some people have to wear them for quite a few years, like myself.

  6. Yes that's normal - your teeth are just moving around. The braces will correct them though - don't worry.

As for getting your braces off, totally depends on how quick your teeth moved The orthodontist told me I would have my braces for 18 months, but then after only 5 months she said I could get them removed, because my teeth straightened much quicker than they thought.
