ok so you kno how in japan, they use yen?

so for everyone dollar you get about 100 yen right?

but thats totally weird because then for a hamburger it costs like 1,000 yen!!? and for expensive clothes it must cost like 100,000 yen. and for houses its like a billion yen!!!!!!!!

so do they have 1 dollar bills like us or is their smallest amount of yens like 100 yens?

but still wouldnt that be so complicated? cuz when you go to the grocery store youd be spending like a thousand yen each time! do they get used to having to pay so many yens there? i mean i just think that'd be so complicated cuz i mean its so many 0's you kno?

do you get what im saying? haha thankss :)

  1. oh my . my brains spinning from all that . lol . couldnt tell you how all that works

  2. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the Japenese currency system...

  3. your the value of yen your posting is probably wrong cause currency doesn't have an exact value but using your system

    1cent=1Yen

    100Cents=1dollar=100yen

  4. im lost, but suree

    haha,

  5. i lost you after the 2nd paragraph.  but i know they are paper bills. but all of those big numbers are normal to them so...

  6. I got Japanese Cousins and they tried explaining it to me. I got so confused with yen this and yen that! lol

  7. You know, there are other sections in Y!A besides the Adolescent section. I'm pretty sure there's a Japan section, filled with people who actually know about Japan. It might be a good idea to ask this question in a different section.

  8. use a currency converter???

    http://www.xe.com/ucc/

  9. lol I have no idea how that works...thank goodness for debit and credit cards =)

  10. It's just having all your currency in pennies. 1$ = 100Y or 100c. see?

    i think they would have single yens, but they'd have coins or notes with bigger values.

  11. ha ha i live by woodbury commons (huge outside mall with every outlet store you can think of) and a load of Japanese people come to america to shop there. they advertise it in japan cause their money is worth so much more. that's what your question made me think of. to them thats probably not a lot cause they are used to one yen being so much

  12. 1,000 yen for a hamburger? That's like 10 dollars. Where do you buy a 10 dollar hamburger?

    As for the rest of the question, I have know idea. I just wanted to know where to buy a 10 dollar hamburger. =]

  13. It might seem complicated to you or me, but they wont of known any difference,

    So spending just.. 3 dollars on a burger must seem odd to them.

  14. all i no is that home are a lot of $$$$$$$$$.!!!!!!! there are a lot of ppl on that small little island.....so the homes in japan are probably more then u said

  15. Yeah its funny to think that instead of $20 for a shirt it would be like 2000 yen. But its so normal to them. They might think we are weird because things must seem so cheap to us! LOL! Their 'dollar' is a yen. But the do have bills that are more, like we have $100 bills, they prob have 100 yen bills. which are like having a bunch of $1s in our pockets! Its a lot of 0s but its totally normal to them.

  16. I think the smallest bill is 100 yen.

    It like in Italy, where 100 lira was like 60 cents (last time I went). It's not that hard once you get the hang of it!
