I live in Dublin and I am searching for flats to rent. I saw several modern flats in Balbriggan with very reasonable rates. Is Balbriggan a good place to live? Any idea on how much one would spend per month commuting by train to Dublin city centre and how long does it take?

Thanks!

  2. God, I can't believe someone's mentioned Balbriggan - I've family that live there!!!

I absolutely don't have a clue as to the cost of commuting to Dublin but I do know there was a huge housing development  programme going on there - on the Bath Road.  Think this is primarily because the Passport Office is located in the town now.

Balbriggan is a nice town to live in but has few place for the young if you know what I mean.  If you come from a vibrant city, then this will be very low key.  There's one hotel called the 'Bracken Court Hotel' located on Bridge Street which is a bit pricey but has a nice bar.

Numerous pubs notably The Harvest (think its still called that) and The Milestone (which I love).  There are some others but do you know I can think of them!!  Though I'm sure that there's a trendy bar called Brown's.  There's a night club at the harbour called Life (never been to it but my family have).

There's a few places to eat but not restaurant style if you know what I mean.

There is a train and a bus service to Dublin from Balbriggan; commute time approx 15-20 mins). so if you need to let loose, and want to get to Dublin for the action at Temple Bar, you're not far away!

Best of luck and I may see you sometime around Balbriggan (whenever I visit that is).  Good luck!

Bus 33 from town takes apparently 110mins

and it's prob cost €2 so you wont be broke from commuting anyway.
