  1. That means that your coach wants to see hitting, or at the very least a very sincere effort to play every ball.  Be aggressive, follow every ball to the line if you think it's out(remember, any part of the line is in bounds so play anything close), talk to your teammates during the play(IN, OUT, MINE), and don't be afraid to hit the floor.  Ideally, you want every rally to end with a pass from your back row to the setter, a good set to one of your hitters, and a hard swing on the ball for a kill(ball hits floor on other side; point for your team).

  2. Well get out to get the ball over the net simply means go out there and try to get the ball over the net legally so you don't lost the point and/or the game.

    Basic hits:

Bumping(some call it passing)=putting your hands together in a "V" shape and hitting the ball on your forearms

Setting=Sort of described as pushing the ball above your head to set up for a spike

Spiking(some call it killing)=Sort of like a serve, the same motion with your hands except it is aimed downward because you are close to net, while in a serve, you are far back behind the baseline, therefore you cannot aim downward or it will not go over the net.

Digging=Same motion as bumping but you have to get down low, and digging is done after someone spikes the ball

    Serving=starts off the point

Blocking=jumping up to block a spike, done with both hands held up

Tipping(some call it tapping)=Like a spike except you just lightly push the ball over the blockers' hands

This might not count as a hit:

Faking=Jumping up when up at the net and acting like you are going to spike but isn't

Two important rules to remember when serving:

You cannot step over the baseline before your hand contacts the ball. After you contact the ball you are free to jump or step into the court.

You cannot serve before the referee blows the whistle and allows you to serve. If you serve before the whistle is blown, the ball will go to the other team.

    More important rules:

All players on both teams other then the server is required to be inside the court until the server contacts the ball with his/her hand.

You are not allowed to touch the net while the point is being played.

  3. I think when they say to go all out, I think they want to see energy out of you.  Go for the ball even if you have to dive for it.  Always pay attention to where the ball is going to be.  Put in all your effort and leave tryouts exhausted.  They don't want people who are going to stand around and hope the ball comes to them.  And I think the most important rule is if the ball is going in between you and another player always go for it and ALWAYS call it.

  4. Well actually it's not against the rules to kick the ball during the game.Kicking is allowed actually and i use it as a last resort to save the ball at times and my teamate one scored a point with his leg. :D

I think going all out to get the ball over the net means they want you to serve the ball over the net.

  6. Just ask an older teammate or if your coach is a kind person ask them, i'm sure they will be willing to help. I am saying this because i pretty much agree with what everyone else says.
