Is it okay to take a fairly large suitcase on a train?

I don't usually travel on trains and I'm worried about where i'll put it and if it will be safe i.e if it has to be left near the door someone might steel it!

  1. u can take a suitcase on a train!

it depeds what kind of train tho!

if it is a long hurl journey where u have had to book tickets then there is usually a luggage rack by the door! no one would steal it i would think but keep checking on it at every station stop.

if it is the avarege daily short journey train then u can either stand with it at the door or get a seat and put it by your feet! sod everyone else they can stand :0)

  2. I think it's okay to have large suitcase in train. But try to figure out with which train company are you going and read their policy or whatever :)

  3. if you want your large suitcase to be safe, i advise you to tight your suitcase on the top of the train roof, oh and remember to put a plastic sheet to cover it in case if it rains. also tight a teddy bear beside the suitcase, you know it's cold outside, i won't want my suitcase to be so loney, i will be sad if it's not happy. ^^

  4. it will be safe by the door on the luggage racks.. the ones above your seat are to small for a suitcase...     make sure you keep you feet off the seats.. lol,  have a nice journey...x

  5. In Maryland I check my luggage the day before I leave...small carry on I keep over head not a problem.

  6. xx

  7. first you should not expect to take large baggage on trains as they have no space , but you should be vigilant

  8. well, i personally take a small bag and stuff many things into it because i think someone would try to steal it...but if you just put it right between your legs on the floor nothing would happened as long as you keep your eyes on it but don't take more than that one large case because if you do and somebody does try to steal it from you then yea i would have to say you'll end up in a pickle.

  9. Noone will Steal it.   There is a section to leave luggage

  10. They'll check your luggage into a seperate compartment, just like on a plane - and their luggage size/content restrictions are much looser than the airlines!!

  11. there is a luggage rack above the seats.

There is also storage space below most seats and behind them, you can normally find space that is safe any away from doors.

  12. first i want to ask u onething...i.e

r u willing to travel by the train or on the train...

if u r willing to go by the train no problem with ur suitcase...u can use a chain &lock for the safety of it...

if u r wiiling to go on the train sorry u should strong enough to force the air.........

  13. I would suggest using the same suitcase you use for an overhead compartment in an airplane but your best bet would be to check with the train company you are riding on and asking them for the details of how large your bag can be?

  14. Since you have gotten the best information, can I have the ten points for wishing you "Have a safe trip!"?

  15. there are luggage racks at the end of the carriages that you can watch from your seat, racks above you where you sit and spaces between the backs of opposing seats that you can stow large cases in

  16. keep it with you, at all the time, as if you will leave it alone , it will be suspected that this is a bomb.,, im serious. i had one case like this when guys went to shop and left his suitcase on the station , they almost called antiterrosit squad.

  17. depends on where you are travelling, what country you're in, and what kind of train service you are on.  if you're in japan or korea, you don't have to worry much at all about the security of your luggage.  here in australia, where i live, you generally don't have to worry much, either; but some trains can be crowded and have little room for your luggage.  same goes for india and south america.  if you are in britain, the intercity services are very good and have room for your luggage, and it will generally be safe. (Remember, it's hard to RUN with a fairly large suitcase!)  In the US, Amtrak will be fine.

You can always ask the porter to help if you are concerned about security.

  18. I think it's okay to take anything you can carry or roll.  Yes, if the train is crowded, you'll leave it by the door, but if it's uncrowded you might find a place closer to you.  I'd call up the ticket office and ask them for advice and suggestions.
