  1. How about

Unfortunatley until now i have resisted the need to increase my charge in line with the going rate, however in order for it to be worthwhile continuing to tutor your children i am afraid that an increase is neccessary.I appreciate that this cost may be a burden to you but would like to remind you that I shall still be cheaper than the majority of other tutors. these rates will increase as of (give a date with a couple of weeks notice)

I look forward to continuing to play a part in the education of your children.

  2. I receive $25.00 an hour this summer for tutoring.   I learned my lesson last summer when I only charged $10.00 an hour.   Most of my friends, who are teachers, charge between $60 and $80 per hour.   You don't say how often you are tutoring the children or if you are a certified teacher.   Sounds to me that you really don't want to do this anymore.   Just tell the mother and move on.   Learn from this experience.   I tutored everyday last summer, all day.   This summer I limited it to parents choosing just Tuesday or Thursday.   Works great!

  3. well, what are your qualifications?  How many hours a week do you tutor?  What subjects?  How old are the kids?

    I tutored 1 kid 5 days a week for 6 hours and got paid  150 a week.

  4. Hello!

I think you should possibly imply that maybe you are going on vacation and need some money or that you have had another offer to tutor other kids for math for more money ?!

I'm not sure if this is very helpful!

  5. I agree with the first answer. Tell the mother that you've received another offer that pays more and "best fits your schedule".

  6. if you are friendly with her, just say it in a normal conversation, i think she will understand

    GOOD LUCK

  7. I got £16 per hour for tutoring 1 hour a week on a weekend.  I had to travel to them (about 15 mins away) and it was only for 6 months.

I am a qualified teacher though.

  8. I would suggest that you call the local education service center and find out how much a tutor gets paid per hour according to subject. Probably what you will hear is that certified teachers or tutors receive so much an hour.  If you are not certified, then you should charge some what less.  Be up front with the mother of the children and say that tutors get this much an hour, but you are willing to charge this much an hour and ask her for the raise in pay.  But do a little research first.

  9. go to a actual tutor place, look at their prices and then jus make yours a little cheaper since it is a home tutoring thing. =]

  10. It depends upon how much time you spend tutoring!  Do you see them for 30 min. or 1 hour? Do you see them 1 time a week, 3, 5?  It all adds up.  I usually charge between 15 & 20 an hour. I am a certified teacher.  It also depends upon qualifications and experience!

  11. When I tutored in High School, I usually charged between $5-$6 an hour per child, depending on the subject. (I charged more for Math because I hated it, less for English because I loved it. )

Depending on how many hours you work, $100 a month might be quite fair, but it really depends.

    Best of luck to you!
