I am 24 and all through school I made honor roll, played softball and basketball, until about my senior year when I started skipping school almost everyday. Anyhow, I made until 2 months before graduation but I have my GED. I went to community college for about a year also. But now I feel like it is extremly hard for me to pay attention when needed, I get distractted very easily by other stupid things, and although it may look like I'm listening I'm really thinking about something totally unrelated. I can never sit still and even though I try to focus its really difficult for even a boring conversation, and I talk alot. I was wondering if I could have developed some sort of ADD or if anyone has any idea what I should do or what is going on, I hate it but I can't help it. At times I get in a really good mood and get hyper then very few times I am in a leave me alone type of mood. Is this normal?

  1. I think I also have ADD.... It's a problem... but I do NOT skip school!!!! I also look like I'm listening and I am not my friends have to ask me the same question a second time because okay i'll give an example... Andrea: "Does my face look oily?" Me: Ya.. Andrea asks again.. I say No.. like that and I get distracted by stupid things.. think about seeing a doctor

  2. It does sound a lot like ADD.  I have it, and I also had good grades and everything, until college, for me.  It tends to be because we need a lot of structure to keep us on track, and when you get older and have more distractions and less structure you tend to do less well.  I also had a huge problem staying on task, and remembering details.  Do you lose your keys a lot?  Have you ever totally forgotten to pay an important bill, not bc you didn't have the money, you just forgot?  Do you get up and walk to the kitchen for something, and then totally forget why you got up in the first place?  Welcome to my universe.  It's pretty frustrating.  but it has gotten somewhat better with age (I'm now 32).  I tried different meds, but didn't like how they made me feel or act.  Good luck!
