Anyone with experience regarding U.S. versus Canadian educational systems?

I'm interested in primary and secondary education (equivalent to grade and high school in the US). My family and I are looking to move north and we have young children. We are curious if the Canadian schools are stronger, weaker or equivalent. I know they will vary from area to area (just like the US) and we haven't pin pointed what location we are most interested in yet. But are there general differences? And if you have any input about certain locations that are particularly good or bad, that would also be helpful to us. Thanks!!!

  2. Canadian schools are better than the US, there test scores prove it.

  3. In general I would say that the Canadian public school system is superior to that of most US public schools. The class sizes are small and there is a big focus on academics. One of the main differences in secondary school is that there is usually less of a focus on the extracurricular school activities (i.e. big sports teams, drama, cheerleading) and more of an academic focus. If kids want to be involved in teams and such they usually will do so within the community rather than through school.
