hi lately ive been feeling worse I think its because I drink oj when my blood sugar falls too low.. I would like to kno if anyone can recommend an herb or supplement that will safely stabalize blood sugar levels throughout the day. I heard dandelion tea, chromium, and mugwort might help. Any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Also snack ideas?

  1. You have to manage hypoglycemia with food. I'd personally avoid chromium as it tends to lower blood sugar.

Here's a website that might help

  2. The only safe and reliable means of raising one's blood sugar is the one you already use - orange juice.  But the other side of that coin is, you don't know your bg is low without a blood test.  Do you have a glucometer and do you use it when you think your blood sugar is too low?  And do you know which numbers are low and which are too high?

  3. Chromium will work kind of, but I would really just make sure you eat right. Make sure your eating protien, not simple sugars. Sandwitches on whole wheat bread are a good idea with a piece of fruit and some veggies. Peanut butter on whole wheat toast, nuts, yogurt,  hard boiled egg, cheese, etc etc are all good snacks.

  4. Rose has the right idea... but you should also be careful with any blood sugar support products (especially Chromium) when you have an ailment like Hypoglycemia (also Hyperglycemia and Diabetes). Chromium as the big example has a warning on the bottle that advises you to check with a healthcare practitioner if you are diabetic or hypoglycemic because it may enhance insulin sensitivity... and that's a good idea for any blood-sugar support products because too much or too little support for blood sugar (when you have one of those ailments) can give you a lot of trouble.

With that being said, some of the most popular natural products for blood sugar support are Cinnamon, Gymnema Sylvestre, Chromium, Mulberry, Fenugreek, Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Vanadium. Good luck!

  5. Hypoglycemia is a trendy, and largely bogus diagnosis.  It is also pretty much self induced.  It can happen if you only snack on high carbohydrate products...or fruit juice.  Initially your blood sugar rises, which triggers release of insulin, and then the blood sugar may drop enough to make you feel sluggish.

The treatment is to stop drinking/eating sugary snacks.  Have a bit of cheese, peanut butter...anything with protein or complex carbohydrates in it so your serum glucose levels will be more stable.

    There are NO herbal treatments
