Anyone with quakers also have a dog and have tips on how to introduce a dog into the home with a quaker?

I have and eight year old quaker parrot and am thinking of getting a standard poodle. possibly an older puppy. does anyone have any tips on how to socialize a dog to a quaker?

When its a pup you have to watch over the bird as puppies don't know better. The Quaker will be jealous for awhile. Just make sure they have there own space if they need it. And never leave them alone and make sure the Quaker is in its cage when your not around. It should work out fine.

okay I have a 5 yr old quaker and a chihuahua and they are the best of friends however that being said the dog was trained that you do not eat house mates . Never ever leave them alone together in the same room . also teach the dog not to get on the cage either because the bird can become territorial and attack the dog for invading the birds space . even after they get used to each other do not leave them alone together as a dogs saliva is poison to a bird and can kill them .
