We are PCSing (moving)in a few months....we want to take atleast a month to get up there (Fort Rich)....right now we are in GA. Our daughter is in 7th grade....I know she has spring break in the last week of March...the end of the third marking period is the week before spring break...if we take her out of school, for a month, are they going to make her repeat the 7th grade? We don't have a place to live lined up yet...and we are not on the housing list yet thus...we have no idea which school she will be attending up there....I know we have options...letting her stay here with friends for the remainder of the year(we really do not want to do this)...I am not too sure if putting her on home school is an option or not....I am so stressed about this and I would love for someone to give me suggestions or let me know about past experiences.....My husband's sign-in date is May 10th...he can sign in early, but unfrotunately, he can't sign in any later.

  1. Try asking this question in the military section.

I was stationed in Alaska, but in the interior.

In the meantime, try their website.

  2. No, she won't have to redo grade 7 if she misses a month. Kids go on vacation for that long or are sick for that long and they do not have to repeat the grade.

And there's no point to going through the whole legal homeschooling process for one month of school. She'd be seen as having moved districts, that's it. You could make sure she keeps reading and writing and work on a gr. 7-level math book while you move (although I'm not sure why you want to take a month to move?) so that those skills aren't far behind, but she'll have some catching up to do for other subjects since the curriculum is likely to be different.
