I really want to be an editor or writer/contributor for a fashion publication but my degree is in fashion marketing. I can write very well and used to do all the press releases and writing for a fashion pr firm. My portfolio also highlights articles I have written. I am just concerned because all jobs I am looking at say they want a journalism degree. Do you think my different degree will hinder my ability to get the job I want?

  1. yes, but your experience in fashion will help you alot.

Do a short course at your local college to get some sort of qualification in creative writing/journalism.

Once you've got that, try and get an entry level job and work your way up... aiming high is good, but you will not get that dream job straight away in this industry!

    Good luck!
