Anyone worried about crime increasing as the economy gets worse?

It is known that crime always increases during recessions. Anybody as worried as I am about this impending increase in crime? I've started taking more precautions by checking to make sure doors are locked, putting a freeze on my credit, adding a locking gas cap, etc. Anybody as worried as I am?

There are degrees of worrying.  The first thing I would do is to "tune up" my investments, move them to higher grounds.  Second, I would look at my debts, the amount of emergency cash I have, and probably would delay all big ticket purchases for now.  Third, like you, would consider personal security issues as you have pointed out.  

Now that I have planned for the worst, I would hope for the best.  Life is easier once you know that you have done the preparation work.

dun know which country u r talkin about but in asia or u.s., and it's allies there is no recession; employment leads to better standards of living and more knowledge decreasing crime; if that's it it must decrease because it's a supply led inflation, u see but that's not it, there has been a good hindi movie if u tak it with a grain of salt recently-- sarkar raj.

what i mean money flowing in and it's purpose are both equally important..................

the govt. in many cases is giving free hand to certain industrialists, their agents and suppliers who are being encouraged to 'develop' places without much auditing etc.

now, as all scientists, i tak such things with salt and pepper too! when quality is low and no gold standard is followed ethics r pushed lower, and u know what? local politicians and mafias were all waiting for such situations to make most out of it --------- extend their tentacles by adding fuel to fire, crime has been rising, but thankfully crime reporting too-------- in india we hav had a generation of young people confident enouh to resist it, and even face devastating consequences; but it has no thappenned everywhere now evrybody likes underhand technius businessmen r desparate and so crime is rising one needs to be alert on insurance, and strategically oriented to mak things difficult for people letting down standards crime is sufffocated by dat way together we can do it, together we shall!!!
