Anything I should know?

I'm leaving tomorrow for a flight to florida. Is there anything I should know before I get there? Like how long I should get to the airport before the flight leaves. I've never flown before so I'm a little nervous.

  1. 1. Plan to be at the airport about an hour before your flight is scheduled to leave - if you do an online check-in at home before you leave for the airport, that will save a lot of time so all you'll have to do is hand over your checked bags (if any) and get through security.

    2. If you plan to bring liquid, gel, or aerosol items in your carry on bags, you need to know about TSA's liquids restriction: only liquids that are in containers 3 fluid ounces or smaller in size. All of these containers must fit into 1 quart-sized, clear-sided, zip-top baggie (Ziploc), and only one baggie is allowed per passenger. This restriction is ONLY for carry on items, NOT checked bags.

For further details, visit this link: http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

    3. Another link that might help - it has a list of several common items that people bring with them when traveling (and includes some not-so-common items) and it tells whether or not they'll be allowed through security: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/p...

    4. You will need a state or federal issued photo ID to get through security - a passport, driver's liscense (or learner's permit) or just a plain ol' ID card would be best: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/a...

    5. At security, you'll be asked to remove your shoes, jacket (if you're wearing one), and possibly your belt (I've never had to take mine off, but some people have), so wear slip on shoes that are easy to take on and off. If you don't think you'll be able to stand barefoot on the floor at security for a minute or two, bring some socks to slip on as well.

    6. Don't forget the gum to help your ears pop on take off and landing, and if you are prone to motion/car sickness, you may want to bring a product called Bonine with you to take for the flight - it works like Dramamine but lasts longer and causes less drowsiness. You can find it at your local pharmacy.

It seems like a lot to keep track of, but you'll catch on really quickly. Have a great flight.
