ok, so my room has cream walls. cream walls, cream fitted cupboards, red carpet, red and gold curtains, and small things like curtain rail and that is gold. problem - im 15. it was my sisters old room and its dull and boring and i hate it...

im not gonna be able to make it over, like completely.. i might just get to paint it and get stuff like frames and rugs etc...

i wanna paint my walls like..turquiose or something, like i want it really bright, but i dont want it to look stupid either..

i basically have to find something that doesnt ridiculously clash with the red carpet, or that it does so much that it looks good.. and for it to go with the cupboards etc..

i dont mind being adventurous.. i just REALLY need a change to suit my age and personality.

plz help!

  1. I'd almost play it safe with the walls and go a bright white in there. After all, you can get as bold and adventurous as you'd like with your wall decor. It would be easy enough to add some zebra prints then and other things of the sort. I do agree that chocolate and red go well together, but it sounds as though your room is pretty dark to begin with (considering all the red).

As a kid we had red carpet which I loved. My dad painted the walls baby blue. That worked too. You just need to break the color up with pictures and furnishings.

    Good luck!

  2. Cut some magazines up that contain the same colour as your carpet, then cut lots of different colours out and place them next to the red bit - its easy (and surprising) to see which colours go and which don't.

  3. paint bottom half of walls a nice brown, get black bed sheets and pillow cases

  4. You could keep some of your cream walls and add chocolate.  Chocolate and red are wonderful together but don't darken your room by adding too much.  You could even put some 'blocks' of chocolate colour on your walls with a red painting in (if money is tight, buy some canvases and paint them red yourself).  Cream, chocolate and red are lovely, striking and fashionable.  Don't be afraid of colour and have some fun.

  5. Get a massive canvas and get the red, cream, gold and any other colour paint and design your own print make it as adventurous as you like, as the same colours r in the print it will tie in with the rest of room and you then add another colour which u can use with your picture frames and cushions and throws
