do think linguistics is a good subject at university? what are the job opportunities? and what's the best univeristy in this field?

Yes, but, I'm slightly biased because I do it.

It's quite difficult, it's the study if speech, and it includes learning how speech sounds are formed in the throat and everything. Many people go into fields of teaching/speech therapy/crime (forensic linguistics).

Sussex and Edinburgh are very good for it.
