Anything besides a barrel needed to shoot 9mm from a Glock 24?

Question

I have been looking at getting a longslide 9mm. It will mostly be used for target, but I would also like to have the ability to use it for defense if need be. Since I am not a fan of external safeties, I have been seriously considering the Glock 17L. I have also been thinking of getting a .40 S&W gun as well, so I was thinking of possibly getting a Glock 24 instead, then getting a conversion barrel to allow me to also shoot 9mm from it as well. I would like to know if the Glock 24's magazine will load 9mm ammunition, and if so, if it will load as many in it as a Glock 17L, or will I be able to use Glock 17 magazines in it? Is there anything else that I would need to switch out for that to work as well? I would think that they would use the same spring, but I would like to know for certain first. Please let me know if you have experience with converting a .40 S&W pistol (Glock or otherwise) to use 9mm ammunition, and what your experience with it has been. Thanks!

Hmm.  Barrel is a bit long for my taste for home defense but a forty or a nine mm will do ya.  Check with Glock but I think you are correct about the barrel swap.  Might have to use the hottest available nines to cycle the slide, though.  The magazine follower might have to be changed also.  What I'd do is find someone who has the 9mm version and do a trial barrel swap and see if the magazine followers are the same.  If not it is an easy matter to buy a 9mm barrel and a 9mm mag to go with it.

What is a Glock 24?

No, the extractor is not tuned to switch between different rim sizes. It might work sometimes but not when you need it.

The only Glock you can switch calibers is the 40 S&W and the 357 Sig. 40 is the parent case of the 357 Sig and they have the same head size. They can use the same magazine too.

A 9mm for defence? .. i guess it would make the scary monsters under the bed go away ... get a 357mag a 45 .. real pistols ... if someone is dumb enough to attack you make sure they can't sue you for it .. honestly its a joke...( if you catch my drift) .. i'm not saying go around killing people this is self defence.
