  1. First you need to tell us WHY you are on prednisone  and/or cyclosporine.  They are used  to suppress rejection in transplant patients, and also may be used in some types of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.  There are several other possibilities, but those are the most common uses of that combination.  They are both very powerful drugs with potential serious side effects and their use should be monitored by someone with proper training and experience.

Also if you anticipate stopping them you need to talk to your doctor about safe ways of doing it...stopping prednisone suddenly may make you very ill.

Your question is too vague to give a proper answer without more information.

  2. Dear Freckles,

Are you sure it's cyclosporine? Cyclosporine is usually given after transplants and is used to "re-grow" organ tissue.

Prednisone is a steroid and might have been coupled with an antiboitic. One of the side effects of prednisone can be swelling even though it is perscribed to help reduce swelling. It can also upset your stomache.

If you are having a bad reaction or feel that these drugs are not working for you, DISCONTINUE use and plase call your physician!! I can't have anything happen to you!!!!

ETA: OK. The cyclosporine makes sense now that I've seen your other Qs! Have you asked if an epi-pen might be helpful?

  3. I was on prednisone for flare-ups for years. I just changed Doctors and found someone who treated my entire body and made me whole.

Never come off predisone cold turkey, it will put your body into adrenal shock and mess up your thyroids and adrenal gland.

I sent you an email to give you more information.
