  1. I  read that Teacup poms have a short life span because of health problems. Plus, they are so very fragile, and can be hurt very easily. They must be treated with extreme caution because of their size. But still, aren't they the most adorable little dogs you ever saw? I want one so bad.

  2. THEY BARK!!!

they have short life spans. because

Unhealthy Runt + Unhealthy Runt = Teacups

they just breed and breed the ruts of litters to make them smaller so they have short life spans

  3. There is no official breed called a "Teacup Pomeranian." If you have an extremely small one, it's a runt or has been bred ( runt to runt) to get small dogs. To start with, runts are small because of some problem in their system that stunts their growth. When runts are bred to runts, you get small dogs, but they tend to have all the negative problems of it's runt parents, or the breeding line could even be several inbred lines deep. (Inbreeding makes small, sickly dogs, as well.  Some sorry breeders know that most people think "teacup' dogs are cute, so they can breed them small to be able to sell them for big bucks to people who don't know beans about dogs. Needless to say, most of these dogs are sickly because of their breeding and have much shorter life spans than a regular-sized, healthy dog. If the tiny Poms could stay healthy, they are a very hyper, happy dog. Don't get sucked in to the "teacup" or "toy" mystique; If you want a healthy dog, go to a rescue shelter and get a pup that has been checked out and treated and OK'd for adoption. You'll be much more satisfied. These breeders will not stop their unscrupulous breeding habits unless and until the demand for the little dogs ceases. Hopefully, education of potential owners, and utilization of rescue shelters will help to do this!

  4. Tea cup Poms are just like regular size poms except they have more health problems. In the old days they just called them runts. Often they died at birth, but if they lived, they usually had problems. Now breeders(bad breeders) will breed them down to as small as possible because people think they are so cute. In reality, they may be cute, but just have too many problems. Anytime a breeder messes with a standard of any breed, it always causes problems.

  5. any breeder who sells teacup poms is not a reputable breeder and more than likely a puppymill. because there are no such things as teacups. especially in poms, they do not exist. If they do, its a mutation that cause the animal plenty of health problems and if you buy one it will cost you a lot of money and heart ache when it continually goes to the vet.

If you want the cuteness of a pom, the fiestyness and cuddliness of them too, along with the small size I suggest a designer mix like a pom-chi. (Pomeranian-chihuahua mix) they are just as cute and fluffy if the parents were a long haired chi and a pom. so cute though and small.

mixes are better because they have less health problems and live longer. but don't be suckered into paying more than 400$ a good eprson wouldn't sell you a mutt for more. save the rest of your money for the puppy.

  6. firstly there are no such thing as teacups, teacups are smaller than the usual sized poms. they are bred by irresponsible breeders who let ther dogs breed excessively to produce tiny puppies which they label as teacups and sell at a higher price. More often than not, these puppies are born with defects in their bone structure and sometimes their organs dont have enough space to grow normally in them. smaller jaws would also mean teeth problems. generally, teacups are very much inferior in terms of health and it's not worth getting a tiny dog considering the price you need to pay

  7. Any 'Teacup' animal has a short life. Do you know how the create a Teacup Pomeranian, or any teacup breed for that matter? They take the runts out of other litters and breed them. Runts are smaller then the other dogs, and when bred to another smaller dog they produce small puppies. It's sick.

  8. hi,

Descended from large sled dogs, the now-tiny Pomeranian has a long and interesting history. The foxy-faced dog, nicknamed "the little dog that thinks it can," is compact, active, and capable of competing in agility and obedience or simply being a family friend.

    hope this helps.

  9. There's no such thing as "teacup" anything. It's just a fancy term used by irresponsible backyard breeders and puppy millers to describe the runts of the litter. This term makes people believe that there is such thing, and they charge more money for these so-called "teacups". You're really just getting ripped off. These dogs are poorly bred and often riddled with future health problems. You'd be lucky if the dog lives a long, healthy life. There is only one standard for the Pomeranian. "Teacup" is not it.

These little dogs are so fragile. A jump off a couch could result in broken bones. I don't feel that's an exaggeration either. You're looking at spending $1,000+ for the so-called "teacup", then dishing out another couple thousand on vet bills alone before the puppy even turns one. "Teacups" usually cause more heartbreak than provide the unconditional love you expected.

Anyone who has "teacups" should not be supported. Responsible breeders breed to improve the breed. They don't use cutsie terms to describe their puppies. They may have a runt of the litter, but that is all it is. It's not more special than the others, and it's not a "teacup".

If you're interested in a Pomeranian, just look into a responsible breeder. Once again, there is no "teacup". Please understand that. If you want to find a responsible breeder, here's a good place to get started:

  10. i would buy them even though they get hurt. i want to  dogs to be at a good home. and protect them

  11. A teacup is generally very unhealthy. They are bred by irresponsible people wanting to make a buck.

They start off with runts from litters, and then breed them together until the offspring are tiny and inbred.
